How We Treat

TRADITIONAL ORIENTAL MEDICINE (TOM)

Traditional Oriental Medicine is a comprehensive health care system with a continuous clinical history of more than 3,000 years.  TOM, also known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is composed of support systems that help the body’s vital energy (Qi) flow properly.  TOM/TCM is based on the understanding that the body is composed of two basic kinds of energy:  electrical and chemical.

These two forms of energy can be assisted through acupuncture (electrical energy field) and medicinal herbal teas (chemical energy field).  Acupuncture and medicinal herbs work together with the body’s own natural healing mechanisms to restore and maintain good health.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is the technique of inserting fine, hair-thin needles into the body at specific points along the body. Biochemical and neurological research has shown that the technique works by signaling the centers in the brain that control systems and organ functions.

Similarly, acupuncture has also been shown to have the effect of stimulating and strengthening the body’s immune system and organ function by just such a feedback mechanism. Acupuncture affects the levels of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and hormones in the blood. It balances gastrointestinal, endocrine and nervous system function in the body. Acupuncture can also improve circulation and reduce inflammation.

MEDICINAL HERBAL THERAPY

Herbal medicine is an integral part of TOM. An herbal prescription helps to continue the energy correction begun by the acupuncture treatment. TOM herbal formulas contain selections of herbs that not only possess different qualities and properties, but also target different aspects of the patient’s disharmony. Each herbal formulation is customized to treat the patient’s disharmony and constitution at that time.

The majority of Oriental herbal medicine is from organic substances such as plants, minerals and animal products. Herbal remedies rarely elicit side effects and have been proven safe and effective over thousands of years when used under the guidance of a qualified practitioner. There are various methods of administering the herbs; the most powerful effect comes from boiling raw herbs into a tea; however, pills, capsules and powders are also available for convenience.

BOWEN THERAPY

The Bowen technique is an alternative type of bodywork named after Australian Thomas Bowen. Each session typically involves gentle rolling motions along the muscles, tendons, and fascia. The therapy’s distinctive features are the minimal nature of the physical intervention and pauses incorporated in the treatment.

Bowen Therapy, through specific soft tissue or fascial release and integration techniques, stimulates specific receptors that enable the body itself to correct dysfunctions and restore homeostasis (balance) on a holistic level. Through treating the cause rather than the symptoms Bowen Therapy has consistently shown it can have profound and permanent healing and pain relief outcomes. Bowen Therapy does not rely on a detailed diagnosis of the problem and its origins, which is often costly and indeterminate. Bowen Therapy treats the whole body, and its holistic effects are apparent in patients who find resolution to problems above and beyond those for which they have sought treatment, for example lack of energy, stress or emotional issues.

NAET ALLERGY TREATMENT

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) is a non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to alleviate allergies of all types and intensities using a blend of selective testing and treatment procedures from acupuncture/acupressure, allopathy, chiropractic, nutritional, and kinesiological disciplines of medicine to balance the body bioenergetically. NAET is a completely natural, non-invasive and drug-free holistic treatment. One allergen is treated at a time. If you are not severely immune deficient, you may need just one treatment to desensitize one allergen. A person with mild to moderate amount of allergies may take about 15-20 office visits to desensitize 15-20 food and environmental allergens.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

Emotional Freedom Techniques (sometimes called Tapping) is, in essence, an emotional version of acupuncture, except without needles. Instead, we stimulate certain meridian points on the body by tapping on them with our fingertips. This has shown repeatedly to reduce the conventional therapy process from months or years down to minutes, hours or a few sessions. This innovative Tapping tool has proven useful in clinical settings for just about any emotional, physical or performance issue you can name.

TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique)

TAT is an easy process for ending traumatic stress, reducing allergic reactions and freeing yourself of negative beliefs. TAT is a simple and effective technique that delivers inner peace, relaxation, more vibrant health and empowerment in minutes. TAT does not replace therapy or health care from medical professionals. TAT was developed by Tapas Fleming. It is a healing tool that combines lightly holding a few acupressure points on the head (TAT pose) as you put your attention on the problem (Steps of TAT). It is claimed with this technique that you can profoundly improve any aspect of your life.
